Automation Machine Builder

PDC International Corp., located in Norwalk, CT engineers, manufactures and distributes machinery for applying Heat Shrinkable Tamper-Evident Seals and Sleeve Labels worldwide to customers such as Kraft Foods, Johnson and Johnson, Proctor & Gamble, Unilever, and Nestle to name a few. PDC also fabricates both Hot/Air & Steam Shrink Tunnels.

The Assembler will be positioned at PDC’s Norwalk, CT Corporate Office.

Job Skills and Qualifications:

  • Previous work with custom mechanical assemblies is a must; 5 years prior experience preferred
  • Basic computer skills including use of Microsoft Office preferred
  • Proven problem-solving skill set; equipment troubleshooting and evaluation requiring pragmatic thinking
  • Working within project budgetary guidelines
  • Ability to read and properly interpret engineering drawings
    • Both mechanical assembly drawings and electrical schematics
  • Attention to fine details
    • Fitting of precision parts with critical dimensions and tolerances
    • Verify conformance of critical parts with use of precision measurement tools
    • Marking up engineering drawings as required
  • Ability and desire to assemble, test, and debug complex electromechanical systems
    • No single task, assembly line work
  • Proficiently and safely use of hand and power tools
  • Need to follow standard assembly and safety procedures
  • Work efficiently to successfully complete assigned tasks in relation to quality, cost and schedule
  • Motivated self-starter; position requires considerable initiative and ingenuity to assemble, fit, and modify custom parts
  • Team player with flexibility to adapt to PDC scheduling needs
  • Ability to multitask in an organized manner to meet changing priorities
    • At times required to work from broad instructions to accomplish overall project needs
    • Ability to work individually and with team members
  • Work with high-level personnel
  • Will conduct Factory Acceptance Tests with customers. Position requires physical ability to support project tasks ranging from equipment positioning and alignment to equipment skidding and wrapping for shipment
    • Must be able lift 75lb as required
  • Clear and positive communicator
    • Communicate project needs to direct manager
    • Will interface with in house Engineering, Manufacturing
    • Over the phone troubleshooting of equipment issues

Compensation:

  • Hourly position with an hourly rate based upon experience
