PDC and PMMI Support Local Robotics High School Team

Cybears

PDC has been a supporter of robotics programs in our local community for many years.  Encouraging young people to enter engineering and other technical fields has played an important role in the recent critical rebuilding of domestic manufacturing.  Involvement in robotics when in middle or high school can open the door to a lifelong passion and rewarding career.

Cybears 2023 RobotThrough the generosity of PDC International and matching funds from the PMMI Skills Fund, a donation of $10,000 was made to the FRC (First Robotics) Cybears Team 6346, from Norwalk, CT. These funds allowed the team to build their best robot to date. This was the first time in seven years that the high school-based team qualified for the final rounds of a competition.

With the help of their volunteers and PDC mentors, Mattias Karlehag, Lorenzo Corso, and Bob Morse, the robotics team kept improving their robot throughout the season and finished in the top 14 out of 39 teams in the final state competition. Having mentors from PDC and the surrounding community provided the kids a place to come and get involved, learn technical skills, and make a difference.

Everyone involved at PDC is thrilled to play a role in encouraging the interests of our local students.
