PDC Receives Special Recognition at Pack Expo ’18 Exposition and Conference

PDC was recently given special recognition distinct among the thousands of packaging machinery companies at the PackExpo ‘18 convention in Chicago. Packaging World honored PDC for 50 years of innovation in the packaging machinery field. Packaging World's Ricky Angel (far left in photo) and Joe Angel (far right) presented the award to PDC's Gary Tantimonico and PDC President Neal Konstantin (2nd and 3rd from left, respectively). PDC was among more than 50,000 packaging professionals, including 2,500 leading suppliers, to attend the Pack Expo conference from October 14-17, 2018.

“PDC is honored to be recognized for its years of experience and proven shrink labeling and tamper evident banding technology, providing high performing machinery for a variety of industries, from food and beverage to personal care and pharmaceutical,” says President Neal Konstantin.

PDC’s milestone 50-year mark belies its humble beginnings. In 1968, Anatole Konstantin, a mechanical engineer, founded Product Design Corporation in a 400-square foot office in Norwalk, CT.  Initially, PDC offered a range of services, from consumer product development to machine design and automation. The direction of the company was initially determined via a large automation project in 1972 - making, collating and packaging emery board nail files for the Bassett Company of Shelton, Connecticut. In 1984 PDC Europe, which continues to thrive today, was founded in Montdidier, France.

Soon shrink sleeve machinery design became PDC’s primary focus. Today, PDC has become an industry leader in custom packaging machinery for the application of heat shrinkable sleeve labels and tamper evident seals. Now under the guidance of Anatole’s son, Neal, who took over as president in 1992, and Gary Tantimonico, Vice President, PDC is housed in a nearly 30,000-square foot state-of-the-art facility in Norwalk, Connecticut.  Fully vertically integrated, the company employs an exceptional team of 55 employees, including engineers, technicians, machinists, customer service and sales staff.

“We have created a culture to be proud of, focused on customer service, collaboration and loyalty. We look forward to at least 50 more years of service to our family of customers” added Konstantin.
