These juices are known for their attractive label graphics and the distinctive figurine heads in the images of popular animated characters. While the cool characters entice consumers with attractive shrink labels, the neck bands securing the figure heads require unusually precise positioning to retain the heads through to the point of sale. PDC worked with Good2grow to develop a solution.
Using our high speed R Series Shrink Labelers, Good2grow precisely applies the full-body sleeve labels and our Multi-zone KST Series Steam Tunnels achieve distortion-free shrinking. We also customized a F-160-TS Shrink Bander to position and secure figurine heads. Our proprietary vacuum assist was deployed in the band application to precisely control the bands into position, maintaining proper alignment before going through the steam shrink tunnel.
A spirits company desired full body shrink sleeving for its single-serve wine in a shatterproof container, providing consumer convenience and portability.
After working closely, we developed a solution using our 50-ERL Shrinksealer for full body shrink sleeve labels; our KST-80 Dual Zone Shrink Tunnel, which provides 10 steam runs in each of its two zones, each row adjustable for pressure and position; and our Walking Beam Band Positioner, which tamps the sleeve down to the conveyor chain.
This pomegranate juice needed beautiful graphics, but had complex curves and an irregular shape. Achieving a consistently tight, wrinkle-free shrink for this popular health drink posed unique hurdles and required innovative shrink sleeve labeling solutions including:
This hummus company wanted to tastefully decorate and provide tamper evident labeling to their grab and go snack packs at speeds of 300 containers per minute. PDC worked closely with Sabra to come up with the best possible solution for their product.
Our R-300 TSCB with Servo Controlled Cleated-Belt product handling allowed Sabra to slow the cup under the point of application for better accuracy. Two PDC KST 80-712 steam tunnels were used for shrinking, and a vacuum section of the conveyor stabilized the product during application. Our Zero Downtime Accumulator Unwind Stand allowed Sabra to have continuous operation during roll changes and to eliminate downtime.
An oyster company needed shrink sleeving for frozen oysters at speeds up to 200 cpm. Keeping the shells closed during thawing confirmed that the shellfish were unspoiled. The oysters’ irregular shape and variable size presented a unique challenge.
PDC created a special fixture design for the client with an indent, which seats the hinge side of the oyster and keeps it in place during shrinking. Four vertical pins in each fixture keep the oyster upright during shrinking in the heat tunnel. Using our 75C-ER Shrinksealer, we apply the sleeves into the empty fixtures, which are mounted on a continuous motion conveyor. The oysters are then inserted by operators into each sleeve, already positioned in the fixtures.
