Tamper-evident features are real benefits for personal care products. The PDC team has developed the perfect solution for containers of all kinds. Our Compact Servo Horizontal and Partial Vertical (HPV) Perforator provides a tamper evident feature when a shrink sleeve label extends up over the closure of a package.
For example, a company wanted their sprayable personal care product to include tamper-evidence, but they didn't want the label to be damaged when the customer opened the product. Our Compact Servo HPV Perforator created a partial vertical perforation that allowed the customer to pull the sleeve down to a horizontal perforation, then pull the film around to reveal the cap. This feature granted the customer access the cap without tearing into the body of the label itself.

The PDC Inspection/Rejection Unit assures product integrity during production - confirming that labels or neck bands are correctly applied each time, every time. Those that aren’t, are diverted from the production line. This is especially important for companies producing personal care products. Many times the containers are labeled prior to being filled with the product itself so it is essential that any containers whose sleeves or bands are incorrectly placed are removed immediately, and don't continue through the channels of distribution.
The PDC Inspection/Rejection Unit utilizes two types of sensors to determine if a sleeve or band is present, and if it’s too high or too low on the container: light spectrum sensors or UV sensors. The nonconforming containers are detected and ejected off the line by a pneumatic actuator, or a jet of air.
The time-consuming splicing of one roll of sleeves into another during roll changes can cause unwanted downtime during shrink sleeve labeling operations. If your team is manually making the changeover, they run the risk of misaligning the sleeves causing jams in the machine. Splice quality is important and any misalignment will cause a jam and require rethreading of the machine. With dual magnetized hold down bars and stainless steel construction, labels are precisely spliced with accurate cuts on the tails of both the old and new rolls of labels. Emerging guide plates move the slit tails aside for accurate tape placement making roll changes easier and faster.
